Officially announced on Twitter by Google, the next version of Android, 2.2 aka Froyo, is going to come to Nexus One in the coming weeks!
It's a very nice news from what we saw during Google I/O as new features on Froyo.
For your information, the exciting things on Froyo, in my opinion, is the performance increase. They announced a 7 time faster Android!! I'm quite enthusiast to see the difference!
Otherwise, we could notice the integration of the flash player 10.1, of the tethering and the capacity to store apps on the external storage (SD card). And finally, for professionals, the add of the Exchange calendar, which was missing in the Android 2.1.

Wikitude, a well know augmented reality (AR) app on Android/iPhone has released in beta version their AR version of GPS navigation, named "Wikitude Drive".The beta release is limited to the first 2000 users in US only. The full-featured demo sports NAVTEQ map data, both AR street view and 3D map view, worldwide coverage, voice commands, and both driving and walking directions.
For the moment, we don't have any final release date for this app, which will be certainly a new way to navigate with GPS.

More Android devices than iPhone in US
A serious study conducted by NPD Group on a panel of 150'000 consumers pointed out that Android is actually the second more used mobile OS (28%) in US after BlackBerry (36%). iPhone is the third mobile OS with 21%.Apple spokeswoman Natalie Harrison gave a statement about this study:
This is a very limited report on 150,000 US consumers responding to an online survey and does not account for the more than 85 million iPhone and iPod touch customers worldwide. IDC figures show that iPhone has 16.1 percent of the smartphone market and growing, far outselling Android on a worldwide basis. We had a record quarter with iPhone sales growing by 131 percent and with our new iPhone OS 4.0 software coming this summer, we see no signs of the competition catching up anytime soon.
Interesting how Apple is taking such a defensive position...

Keyhole for drunk people
New rechargeable battery SCiB - 90% charged in 5 minutes!
Imagine you're going home from work and you're gonna have a dinner in half an hour. Your Android/iPhone/Laptop is going to be out of battery and you only have 10 min to charge it as most as possible. With current Lithium-Ion technology, going home with 5% battery left and charging it 10 min, you will go out with 10~15% (optimisitic).
With the new Toshiba's battery technology, SCiB (for Super Charge Ion Battery), in only 5 min, you will charge 90% of your battery!!
Moreover, from what Toshiba explains, it's a long life battery: capacity loss after 3000 charge-discharge cycles is less than 10%. Achieves more than 6000 charge-discharge cycles.
Very interesting battery technology we would like to see as soon as possible in an industrial device, especially in mobile ones.

iPhone very popular app "WhatsApp" soon on Android

One of the most popular iPhone app "WhatsApp" will soon be available on Android and Symbian.
It's a very good news since it's one new thing which will increase communications between iPhone, Android and Symbian.
Personnaly, I'm impatient cause I'm using a Nexus One (from Google) and most of my friends are communicating through WhatsApp freely. I must be one of the last to use paid MMS to send picture/vids to my AppleAddict friends, while data related app can send "MMS" freely.
You will have an update from me as soon as we will get something to test!
